What happened
A Phase Ib/II study (SBAGA) evaluated combining sintilimab, the bevacizumab biosimilar IBI305, and CapeOX chemotherapy as a first-line treatment for HER2-negative advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. In Phase II (N=54), the objective response rate (ORR) was 87.0% (95% CI: 75.1–94.6%). Median progression-free survival (PFS) was 12.2 months (95% CI: 9.2–18.1), and median overall survival (OS) was not reached after a median follow-up of 20.3 months.
Why it matters
This combination therapy achieved high response rates and favorable survival outcomes with manageable toxicity, offering a potential new first-line option for patients with HER2-negative advanced gastric cancer.
