Four Dead in Houthi Rocket Attack on Port City Mokha

What happened

On August 15, 2026, the Houthi militia launched an assault on Mokha using six ballistic missiles, resulting in four civilian fatalities. The Houthis claimed the attack targeted military targets associated with Saudi-backed troops.

Why it matters

The attack escalates the Yemen war, which began in 2014 and has caused immense humanitarian challenges. It highlights the ongoing conflict with the Saudi coalition and complicates diplomatic efforts, as a 60-day ceasefire agreement has expired and Iran has not decided on resuming talks.
