SRA1 identified as novel therapeutic target for postpartum depression
Importance · 4/5Sources · 1
What happened
Using integrated proteomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic profiling with Mendelian randomization and colocalization, researchers found that SRA1 expression was significantly associated with postpartum depression (PPD). Brain methylation at cg02434007 was linked to increased SRA1 expression and higher PPD risk. SRA1, AGT, and PGP showed increased colocalization, with isoleucine and an imaging phenotype as potential mediators.
Why it matters
SRA1 is a novel therapeutic target for postpartum depression, enhancing understanding of its molecular aetiology and supporting the development of new treatment strategies.
