What happened
IBM researchers Navaneeth Rameshan and Gregoire Messmer published a paper at CRYPTO 2026 on Aug 17, 2026. They introduced the first Distributed Key Generation (DKG) protocols for discrete-logarithm based keys that are universally composable and adaptively secure in the random oracle model, without erasure or inconsistent players.
Why it matters
These protocols are secure under the DDH assumption and achieve guaranteed output delivery in three rounds. They improve upon existing DKG protocols that satisfy weaker security notions or require stronger assumptions.
